I have made the following changes to my website and training material as a consequence of the GDPR laws coming in to effect in Europe.
According to what I have read online, I am most likely not impacted by these rules. But better safe than sorry.
Course Free Trials
I used to offer free trials of my courses in exchange for people’s email address, and used to send weekly newsletters to those emails. Most of the content in those newsletters were updates about blog posts, but I also sent some promotional material in those emails.
I don’t offer the free trials anymore.
I am also going to be sending out my weekly newsletter only to those who explicitly opt in to receive those emails (including the promotional stuff). If you are interested in getting these weekly email updates, you need to sign up for the MBD Weekly Newsletter course. Also, if you are interested in getting updates about my courses (as I add new material periodically) the only way to receive them is via the weekly newsletter.
I don’t track my blog visitors around the web, nor have I (to the best of my knowledge) used any services in the past which did. Obviously I don’t intend to do so in the future either.
I don’t use Facebook ads (or any other ads), and I don’t use any kind of retargeting or remarketing.
I have created a few email-based courses which I created for collecting email addresses. I will stop publishing these email courses and likely move the content into one of my paid courses.
If you have any feedback for me about this article, and anything else you would like me to address, please leave a comment.
It is possible that I could spend more time educating myself about GDPR and use that to implement better access to my learning material.
But I prefer to use my time and resources to learn, use and teach Dialogflow instead. 🙂
