There was an announcement yesterday that API.AI was changing its name to DialogFlow. Since I have quite a lot of tutorials on this site about
API.AI DialogFlow, I needed a plan to update the content. Here is what I am planning to do. Now, almost none of this should affect the readers of this blog, but I am writing this post in case it does affect someone (in which case you can refer to this post). In case you also have a WordPress blog where you have written articles about API.AI, maybe you can use this as a guide.
URL of posts will remain unchanged
This is fairly straight-forward. For internal links to continue working, and for making sure that the visitors from search engines don’t end up at a 404, I need to keep the old URLs intact.
However I will be updating the titles of all my posts and change it from API.AI to DialogFlow. This gives me a second benefit: the page title will contain DialogFlow, while the page URL will still contain API.AI (well, strictly, api-ai) so it is easy for readers to see that they are going to the correct web page.
Images using old content
There are probably some images which will be out of date because of the name change and also because of changes to the interface. I will probably update these images some day, but for the most part I will be leaving them unless they are too confusing for some reason.
I use a special plugin which works best when each post gets a single category, so I may not have the choice to use multiple categories per post. But I will be changing all the categories which used to point to API.AI to now point to DialogFlow to make the site easier to navigate.
